If there’s one part of my life that isn’t a mess it’s my dedication to my skin. The importance of taking care of your skin is completely underrated, in order to age beautifully and keep skin from becoming dull and clogged, you have to nurture skin like a newborn baby. I’ve struggled with acne ever since puberty and fortunately, in the recent years I’ve finally got a routine down pat. This is what works for my combination, acne-prone, sensitive skin.
If I’ve been wearing makeup all day I use these wipes. These are the Walmart brand of Neutrogena’s Night-Time Soothing makeup wipes and I assure you they work just as well and will save you the extra 2 dollars. 1 wipe is good enough to take off all of my makeup I applied that morning (foundation, eyeliner, waterproof mascara, lipstick)
I then will use my cleanser, Mario Badescu’s Enzyme Cleansing Gel (this is my first step in the morning) Mario Badescu products are a dream if you have sensitive skin like me, this cleanser is extremely gentle and removes and prevents any product buildup without drying out skin, I use a dime size amount on my wet face, rinse, and pat dry.
My next step is Mario Badescu’s Cucumber Cleansing Lotion this works as a toner and reduces redness. I put this stuff on a cotton ball and swipe it all over my face, then letting it air dry.
I then put a dime size amount of Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum all over my face and neck. I live by this stuff, it makes dark spots and acne scars dissapear, smells heavenly, and prevents breakouts.
In the morning, I use Ole Henriksen’s Sheer Transformation Moisturizer all over my face and neck. For a lightweight moisturizer, a little goes a long way and it eliminates dry skin as well as create a great base for makeup.
At night I use Caudalie’s Face Lifting Moisturizer all over my face. I was prone to a puffy face and eyes in the morning and this dramatically changed that. This product came in my Sephora PLAY box and works wonders for the face.
To finish, I’ll use Mario Badescu’s Rosewater Spray to calm down my skin, it helps to hydrate and brighten skin. Plus it smells like roses. I also use this as a setting spray when I’m done with my makeup.
2-3 times a week I’ll use Loreal’s Clay Mask and then Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion on any spots I might have. Every other day I also use Alba Botanical’s AcneDote Scrub (not pictured) as an exfoliant to remove dead skin and dullness.
In addition, it’s important to also keep your lips hydrated, Smith’s Rosebud Salve does a perfect job doing that, you can use it for a number of other things as well. AND it smells of roses.
